ReplayNT 3.6.2

User’s manual is included with the software.

Important Message:

ReplayNT 3.6.2 is the production release of ReplayNT 3.6.1. Version 3.6.1 never made it to a general release. ReplayNT 3.6.2 is fully HTPC compliant. This and few bug fixes are what came over from the 3.6.1 beta. With the fall schedule coming upon us, I decided to release ReplayNT 3.6.2. The most important new feature is the ability to find all new shows on specified channels and times coming in the next couple of weeks. I found this feature so compelling that I decided to make this release available even though it has not been beta tested.

Guide Setup

To get TV Guide data you must create an account with Tribune Media Services. You will be asked a series of marketing questions when setting up the account, but that is a small price to pay for a free service. Every few months or so you will be asked to renew your account. This is requirement of Tribune Media Services, not NightThunder.

To setup your account, click on the link below and use the following certificate code: DQXN-ZM3O-SBUT

Zap2It

Note: This source for listing will not longer be available after Sept. 7, 2007. An alternate source has been identified, however, it will take some time to switch over

IR Emitter

To get the most out of ReplayNT, an optional IR emitter/learner must be purchased. The following link is to an IR emitter that ReplayNT supports. At this time, no other IR emitters are supported. As needs dictate, this may change.

USB IR Emitter

I found the basic IR emitter listed at $50.00 to be adequate for my needs. The emitter connects to your USB port on your computer. This may be a limitation if your computer is separated by a long distance from from your AV equipment. That is indeed the case with my setup. To get around that problem you can purchase an IR extender from SmartHomes (or equivalent). The device in the following link works well for me.

PowerMid Extender

Macros and Devices

The following is a list of Device Pairs and Device that have been tested with this version of the software. By default, these Device Pairs have macros created for them and will also be downloaded. By using these pre-made Device Pairs you can save time and learn some techniques in getting your software up and running. You can load as many Device Pairs as you wish, however, you can only do so one at a time.

To download a Device Pair, click on the Device Pair Name you want and when prompted, select run. The files are self extracting zip files and will put a series of XML files into the default program directory for ReplayNT (C:\Program Files\ReplayNT). If you loaded ReplayNT elsewhere, you will need to change the output directory accordingly.

Once you have downloaded the files, from the main menu select

Maintenance >> Device Import.

The rest is self explanatory

Heros Wanted!

Want to help other users of ReplayNT? If you have a device you’ve added on your own, you can share it with other users of ReplayNT by going to Maintenance >> Export in the program. You will be shown a list of your devices and by selecting the device you have added, merely press Export to send your new device and macros to NightThunder. If you like, you can add your name or alias to the files you have sent. After NightThunder reviews the new device, it will be added to the list of supported devices along with your name! If you find a bug or have an enhancement to an existing device, or you merely need help with one of your macros you can use the same mechanism to send it to NightThunder.

MyHD Support Note: MyHd Presented yet another challenge. With two antenna inputs, you could basically set up this device as two separate devices. In addition, unlike other software you cannot rename the output file and then minimize the capture windows so that you could continue to do other work. This will be corrected in release 3.6.2 of ReplayNT. In the meantime, the device setup for MyHD offered here is for antenna 1. If you want to use antenna 2 now, all you really need to do is change the registry entry sub-key values

INPUT1_CH Pos
and
 INPUT1_CH Tail_VCH

by replacing the numeric 1 for numeric 2.

In addition to support for HTPC friendly screens, ReplayNT 3.6.2 will offer an even better solution for the MyHD capture card that will allow you to minimize the the MyHD control window and overlay window.
